TYPE X COMPARISON | ALLAN WHITING DRIVING FOOTAGE
Allan Whiting from Outback Travel Australia recently reviewed a pair of our Type-X LED Driving Lights, so we asked if it was a possibility to use his review plus a small handful of competitor reviews to throw together an unbiased video showing how the Type-X LED Driving Light shapes up against some of the other driving lights on the market.
These videos were all captured in the same environment on the same vehicle with the same camera set up. The original footage can be viewed on the Outback Travel Australia YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/outbacktravelaust.
We will be running a small series of comparison videos with the Type-X and others in our range against other competitor lights. Leave a comment below on which lights you would like to see in the next installation to the series.
ACCESSORIES & PERSONALIZATION
COMPATIBLE COVERS
Type X comes included with the blacked-out "STEDI" branded covers. All Type X 8.5 inch covers are compatible with the V1, Pro & Sport Type X models. You can order the optional clear, amber, wicked smile, blue and more covers from the below "shop now" link.
AMBER: Excellent for off-road & beach driving, helps in cutting through dust and haze. Coloured filters also reduce the intensity of the light, which is advantageous in dense scrub.
BLUE: Helps to reduce glare. Also useful for marine applications to reduce glare from the water. Useful when driving in snow.
GREEN: Greenlight offers a better definition of outlines. The human eye is most sensitive to green light, it's the brightest of all the colours but this also makes it easier for others to see you. Green is invisible to wild animals. Greenlight also does not attract insects like white or yellow light does.
WICKED SMILEY: Significantly increases street credibility.
TYPE X PRO OPTIONAL ANTI-THEFT KIT
If you looking for an option to minimize the prospect of your Type X PRO getting stolen, we offer a comprehensive anti-theft kit.
The anti-theft kit consists of the following fasteners;
- 1 x M10 Nut Security Key
- 1 x M8 Bolt Security Key
- 4 x 8mm Bolts (Long) - Used to secure the brackets to the sides of the Type X (fitted to the adjustment bolt position)
- 2 x 10mm Nuts - Used to secure the bracket to the vehicle in conjunction with the included shank bolt.
BRACKET INSTALLATION
INCLUDED COMPONENTS
Straight out of the box you will receive all of the required mounting hardware included all nuts & bolts, washers, side clips, anti-vibration dampeners, and the u-bracket.
STEP 1.
First up is the nuts that will slot into the back of the housing, you will notice there are 2 slots either side of light. The inner side will fit the larger nut and outer fits the smaller nut with the top side of the nut facing towards the centre of the light. Lastly, for this step, attach the clips over each side to secure the nuts in place when adding the bolts.
STEP 2.
Next up are the side bolts, these only need to be moderately tight at this stage as you will need to adjust the tilt angle when you move on to the install on to your vehicle. Now for the question that everyone asks, "what are the rubber plates for?". These are supplied to absorb vibration whilst driving that if not controlled, can shorten the life span of your lights. For customers using only one mounting bolt, we recommend the dampener plates being used as a must. With only a single point of mounting the lights are much more susceptible to vibration. To install the dampeners place one on the top and one on the bottom of the u-bracket with the rubber side facing in towards the bracket as per the third picture below.
