Toyota Fortuner Complete LED Upgrade Guide
The Crusade is fitted with Bi-LED headlight but leaves the rest of the car in the dark. Read through this guide for our LED interior conversion on your 2017 - 2018 Toyota Fortuner Crusade with LED Headlights + Fog light upgrades for the GX and GXL models. The complete inside, as well as reverse lights & number plate lights, are fitted factory with halogen globes. Thankfully, these halogens can be easily converted to LED for a pure white illumination inside, with brighter reversing lights. Through our Toyota LED Conversion listing, we have taken all the hard work out of finding all the globes throughout the vehicle.
FORTUNER MAP LIGHT LED CONVERSION
There is a slight modification that requires a slight shave to the tops of the plastic tabs inside the holder. This will allow the CANBUS to pass through. This will not reduce any compatibility with factory globes.
FORTUNER VANITY LIGHT LED CONVERSION
The vanity tab has a simple tab that is located on the outer side. You will just need to push in which will dislodge from the visor and pull down. Further to that, you can un-clip the bulb holder from the unit for easy access to the bulb.
FORTUNER COURTESY LIGHT LED CONVERSION
You will need to remove the lower part of the door trim to pop out the unit. Unplug the housing from the car, as these lights are constantly triggered whilst the door is open. There is a small button to the back of the door frame that you can tape down to avoid the lights from activating whilst you are doing the conversion.
Once removed the rest of the install is like any other, just out with the old and in with the new. As you can see from the last photo the increase in brightness is quite substantial. This is amplified at night with illumination of the surface surrounding the car.
FORTUNER DOME/TRUNK LIGHT LED UPGRADE
Both the dome lights in the rear passenger and trunk use the exact same housing. These can be removed completely via the 2 tabs located diagonally from one another.
FORTUNER GX + GXL LED HEADLIGHT UPGRADE | LOW BEAM
Toyota Fortuner models in the GX & GXL range are both kitted with projector headlights, but also factory-fitted halogen globes. Our new Project Series LED Conversion kits offer a wider field of vision below the cut-off, with an increase of brightness reducing the lights hotspot.
To start, you will want to remove the existing factory globe which can all be accessed easily enough through the back of the headlight. Simply plug in the new LED globe and secure it back into the headlight.
While in this area it is also quite simple to upgrade the parker globes to LED as well. Simply pull the holder out, switch over the globes, and refit into the housing.
As you can see from the below pictures, you now have a much cleaner look to the front end, as well as a significant improvement out of the vehicle's headlight. The left side shows the factory halogen and lack of illumination towards the bottom of the beam. The right shows the new Project LED and an increase of all-round illumination.

FORTUNER REVERSE LIGHT LED UPGRADE
The tail light needs to be removed to install the LED bulb, with 2 bolts on the inside of the tailgate, to lock the housing in position. The housing removes towards the back, and the bulb for the reverse light is located in the lower bulb holder.
HIGH OUTPUT 1000 LUMEN LED REVERSE LIGHT
New to our range of LED conversion kits are the 1000 lumen high output globes (available in T10/15, T20, and BA15S). They will suit just about any car on the market. Compared to our other conversion globes they offer a much brighter illumination with a slightly different installation method. A good customer has thrown together a short video briefly describing the installation as well as giving quite a useful comparison between the factory halogen globes. Click the image below to watch
FORTUNER LICENCE PLATE LED UPGRADE
One of the more difficult conversions on the Fortuner is the license plate bulb. It is quite hard to access, due to the strip that covers them, which provides minuscule access for removal. You will need to insert a flathead screwdriver through the side of the holder and twist slightly to pop out the holder. This is difficult due to the small amount of space you have to work with. These can be quite fragile as well, so be a tad cautious whilst removing them. Putting the unit back in is a lot easier than the removal process.
Last but certainly not least this customer's Crusade is fitted with our 7inch Type-X LED Driving Lights. Coupled with the Rhino 4x4 bull-bar, we think that this Crusade has some serious street cred'! Although the V1 Type X 7 Inch has been discontinued, we have now replaced it with our more powerful and affordable 7 inch Type X™ Sport.
Our growing range of vehicle-specific piggy back adaptors now includes an adapter for the new Toyota Fortuner. This now brings the Fortuner back to a simple plug & play solution removing any hassle from picking up a high beam trigger.
Please Note: This is only compatible with LED Headlight models.
The Toyota Fortuner, very similar to that of the Hilux will run the Short Type Toyota push button switches from the year 2016 onwards.
